Former Nissan executive Yutaka Katayama claimed he preferred driving a Nissan Versa over the new 370Z, because the 370Z is very heavy, and it is also very expensive, and failed to live up to the Japanese sports car legacy started by the 240Z.
It is true that the original 300zx model, its lifespan stretching from 83-1989, came under heavy criticism for being more a luxury cruiser rather than a sports car. This was even stated by some who'd mentioned that the car was more powerful than past inceptions. THe Z32 model was the mark. As it was powerful, sleak and even though it was ragged on for becoming too complicated and expensive, it obtained a still present following.
THe 350Z could not live up to what was left behind by the Z32 and the same can be said for the 370Z. But why? What is Nissan doing wrong? What are they forgetting? Who are they forgetting to listen to? We're pushed to the side by econoboxes with engines that can run on corn and wheat for all we know. THe Go-Green effort has eaten what fire sports cars had left. You can make high-performance models cost more in order to deter purchases, to make consumers purchase more eco-friendly vehicles but you can't get rid of sports cars. The enthusiast and the tuner will always breathe.
Okay, so, bad things were said about the 350Z but they were used extensively in open road races as well as drifting and in the Super GT. How about the Option Stream Z?
Well, hell, Sun Auto has already tuned and modded a gorgeous 370Z. But what does that really say?
